The Virgo/Pisces Ingress
The transiting Nodal Axis of the Moon ingresses into Virgo/Pisces on January 11, 2025. It will remain in these signs for 18 months and egresses on July 26, 2026. The Nodal Axis moves in a retrograde fashion through the zodiacal wheel and so the South Node will move from Libra to Virgo and the North Node from Aries to Pisces.
In Evolutionary Astrology, the transiting Nodes are the leading edge of soul growth in the present incarnation. The South Node can be viewed as the mouth feeding from life events to bring situations that re-ignite past-life memories. These memories are highly charged and specifically experienced to renegotiate previous dynamics and habits that have left the soul feeling incomplete. The transiting North Node is the release point, the outcome of re-negotiating the South Node process. This process is never complete. We move closer and closer to complete healing in patient steps.
The Natal Nodes of the Moon
The Moon's Nodes are not physical bodies. They are a point of intersection between the Sun and the Moon relative to the Earth.
The natal Sun centralizes the whole chart by representing a personal purpose. Its expression allows our personal contribution to the present incarnation. The natal Moon represents how we emotionally connect and process every experience in our world. It signifies what each of us is hungry for and what we become as we eat from its nourishment. In the vast flurry of our environment, the natal Moon symbolizes what we see.
With this background, we can understand the natal Nodes of the Moon as the past-life expression of these personalized influences. The Nodes represent a synthesis of past-life personalities that are relevant to the present incarnation. They capture the essence of our identity on a soul level: the emotional experiences that are not only experienced in the present, but those that have been stored in our unconscious during multiple past lives.
Transiting Nodes of the Moon
It is extremely valuable to track the transits of the Nodal Axis to identify our evolutionary development. This applies to us personally as we place the transit in our chart, but also as a collective since everyone is influenced by its passage.
The North Node will be in Pisces and the South Node in Virgo in this next phase from January 11, 2024, through July 26, 2026.
The Virgo/Pisces axis brings up experiences and opportunities to integrate lessons regarding control. It gives us two sides of the coin regarding perfection. The concept of perfect is approached from two ways with this pair. Virgo understands that effort is required. Pisces learns mastery of loss of control and harnesses this into perfectly balanced fluidity. One can learn a lot from the other.
The transiting South Node in Virgo undoubtedly will bring a re-introduction to situations that allow success. We are given opportunities to be craftsmen and in control. Wherever we do the work, we can become masters. In this archetype’s best expression, the striving for perfection is attained through humble but necessary processes: the sick become well through diet and exercise, the sous chef becomes the Michelin winner, the Corps de Ballet becomes the principal dancer, and the apprentice, the master. Routine, discipline, and hard work are the vehicles to harness the soul into alignment with higher wisdom. The gifted Virgo seeks clarity through submission to the craft, not the elevation of the endpoint.
The transiting North Node in Pisces gives each of us the opportunity for contentment with the sum of what life brings to us. We can ride the wave, letting go of what we cannot control, realizing that “this too shall pass.” Optimism is a form of bravery. Isn’t it easier to be angry and bitter with disillusionment when life doesn’t conform to our wishes? Courageous souls are hopeful, realizing that persistence alone is omnipotent, and that life has a rhythm and a process. We might not understand what life brings in an intellectual way; however, the courageous see beauty in the wild wonder of it all. This is the healthy Pisces.
Risks of the transit
During these 18 months, be aware that there are risks. The Virgo South Node vs. Pisces North Node expression can become exhausting and joyless. Instead of finding joy in the mindfulness of the process, the goal is perfection. Perfection is an illusion. Love and life are not found in perfection. The experience of Virgo perfection is a path of anxiety, illness, and even self-loathing. In a characteristically chaotic manner, Pisces can make our footing slippery on the perfection highwire: we unexpectedly fall. Are we angry? Are we disillusioned that our hard work is for nothing? Are we able to regroup and retrace the path of process over outcome?
Virgo and Pisces perpetually intersect, as do any opposing forces, they need each other. We learn when we express one end of the archetype with the interjection of the other. This balanced rhythm interlaces human effort with spiritual process and creates the best possible outcome. Perfection is understood through synthesis of purposeful work and spontaneous happenings. How would it be to experience Pisces as a loving dive into the unexpected, that love creating a better outcome than a pre-ordained Virgo perfection.
Effects of the Transiting Nodal Axis of Virgo/Pisces
Possible effects of the transiting Nodal Axis can be imagined. You can think of this as preventive therapy by imaging scenarios and their best outcome ahead of time. When the transiting South Node enters Virgo, there is a corresponding entry of the transiting North Node into the opposite House. In the natal chart, the following processes are examples of the types of issues that can occur:
Opportunities to focus on health. This could be a visit to the doctor and the start of a diet, exercise plan, sleep strategy, relaxation technique, etc. Unfortunately, this could be the realization that a lax approach has led to illness. This illness could be as simple as the tendency toward acid reflux that has been chronic and uncomfortable rather than dangerous or as dramatic as the need for surgery. The outcome is to focus on details to bring about a healthier organism.
Starting a course of study or becoming an apprentice. The South Node in Virgo can bring a feeling of lack. Archetypically, Virgo can be a transitional phase from Leo, the realized individual, to Libra, with the understanding of the need for equality in relationships. Virgo, in this process, is the crisis of personal insufficiency. This will create the desire to reach out and learn from others. Typically, the relationship is with a mentor or guru who knows more than we do. The axis involved is the need to interface with the details to complete the self.
New understandings. There can be general realizations that focusing on perfection is a dead-end, lifeless goal. This refocuses our attention on the process itself and how it brings healing and alignment to the true purpose. If this refocus is possible, we experience meditation in movement vs. inadequacy and anxiety.
Here are examples of possible scenarios as the South Node in Virgo enters each of the 12 House archetypes:
1st House: A new Instinctive attraction erupts with the ensuing fight to develop and use your skills but allows freedom to make mistakes.
2nd House: Developing new skills for building healthy rituals that allow Soul-growth.
3rd House: An introduction to new concepts demonstrating more freedom than you previously realized.
4th House: The calming influence of family can heal a faulty structure.
5th House: The process-oriented development of your special gifts will allow creative opportunities.
6th House: Healing the body is possible through careful application of details, and daily work will allow the integration of body and spirit.
7th House: The reconciliation of opposing voices can create a new beginning.
8th House: Painful experiences and working to understand them will lead to breaking through outgrown habits and creating peace.
9th House: Assumptions are found to be lacking, and learning new information has a healing effect.
10th House: Healing relationships with authorities is important for healing your harsh inner voice and will lead to forgiveness.
11th House: Involvement with process-oriented groups is a great way to realize creative freedom.
12th House: Life-long fears of letting go can be healed through process-oriented tasks.
Integration of Control and Chaos
Use this 18-month transit of the South Node in Virgo and the North Node in Pisces to align each day with a balanced and humble approach. The PROCESS is important. Allow your working life to become a meditation. Work toward a mundane goal each day, realizing this can be enriched with divine chaos.
