On 23rd March 2023, the planet Pluto, symbolising the most deep working and powerfully transformative energy in our solar system, entered Aquarius (for the first time since April 4th 1777). On that exact March date, we saw the beginning of the steep upward curve of public awareness of the far-reaching implications for good or ill of the Artificial Intelligence revolution. It was the day that OpenAI connects ChatGPT to the internet.
After about 15 years in Capricorn, Pluto's gradual transition into Aquarius begins in 2023. This sign change will take place in three steps. In 2023, Pluto will first change to Aquarius for about three months, and then return to Capricorn for a little more than seven months. In 2024, it will remain in Aquarius for more than seven months before returning to Capricorn for two and a half months in the fall, from where it will finally and permanently change to Aquarius on November 19, 2024.
Neptune and Pluto are in an almost exact sextile during a long period of several decades. The aim of this article is to describe the long-lived aspect between two planets and its influence on our past and future. We combine an accurate astronomical description of this constellation with the effects it produces.
Time management is key to success and accomplishment, and a plan outlining a series of achievable steps is crucial to the completion of any endeavor. Nature provides us with the most apparent and usable time management system in the monthly rhythm of the Lunation Cycle (the monthly cycle of relationship between the Sun and the Moon, as we experience it on earth). If you give attention to this natural cycle, and plan and execute your important activities according to its rhythm, you will soon realize greater success, satisfaction and fulfillment.
Every month an invisible New Moon signals we can make a fresh start and, as the cycle progresses and the Moon waxes, we can learn, grow and invest. At the second half of the cycle, after the Full Moon, we may reap what we have sown, reflect on and eventually bring to a close that which was conceived at that beginning. In her excellent Moon Watching series[1] Dana Gerhardt introduced readers of the TMA to this monthly cycle.
Are you passing through the dangerous age? Or, if you have been touched by continental sophistication, are you disturbed a little, at least by l'age critique and its emotional uncertainties? You may not have heard that there is such an age, dangerous and critical.
Because we are exploring the half-Uranus cycle as the gateway to midlife¿s transition, the sign Uranus is in natally secrets characteristics of the opposite sign as its ¿unlived life¿. When any planet in transit comes to the opposition point to itself in the natal chart, a half-cycle is noted.
One of the most discussed prognosis models of modern futures studies is the Kondratiev Cycle. It postulates a regular pattern of upswings and downswings in the economy, ranging over 50 to 60 years. This cycle is based on collective paradigm shifts, caused by the emergence of new technologies that revolutionize both the economy and society at large. German economist and astrologer Dr. Christof Niederwieser has identified a close relationship between the Kondratiev Cycle and the astrological Uranus-Pluto Cycle and has created a synthesis: the Astro-Kondratiev model.
The inertia of the past cycle and the unsolved problems acting through WWI challenged the expanding creative impulse of the new cycle during the tense and confrontive semisquare phase (45 degrees) of Neptune and Pluto, which lasted from the late-1920s to the mid-1930s. It saw a flourish of new ideas and attitudes in all fields of human endeavor vanquished by the Great Depression, and the rise of Fascism and its corollary in the arts and sciences, "neo-Classicism."
To be an astrologer and pursue this line of study is to be part poet. The field bears witness to the Divine alchemy that brings the as above, so below relationship to life. Followers of the stellar art recognize the elegant intelligence built into its design. Planets, spheres of intelligence, were set into concentric orbits in a deliberate way.
In these notes, I am focusing mainly on the cycles which are of immediate concern to us now, as we sit in the eye of a circling series of collective storms, contemplating an increasing threat to the long-term survival of planet Earth. My aim is to provide those of you who are just beginning to get to grips with the larger, more complex – and fascinating! – dimensions of astrology beyond the merely personal with some initial perspectives hopefully to whet your appetites.
How are you feeling these days? I have been – unusually for me – pretty lackadaisical, unmotivated. Left field unpredictability, some of it welcome, some not, has been a distinct theme. Inability to make firm plans, experiencing even tentative plans having to change…sharing with fellow humans both locally in my small nation of Scotland, nationally in the UK, and internationally a general feeling that the world is falling to bits, the Old Order is no longer sustaining us and somehow has to change… Does any of this sound familiar?
The linguist, George Lakoff is a strategy coach for the Democratic Party; and he's famous for teaching the importance of cognitive frames. If we envision messages as food for thought, then cognitive frames deliver the vitamins. Most of the frames in use (and this extends beyond politics) are based on polarized pairs.
During this time of uncertainty, the wisdom of astrology can help us surf the changes and achieve a calm inner center. This comes from understanding the current transiting situation affecting all of us and also the implications and possibilities of one's personal transits and what they're asking each of us to do here and now. Today's presentation considers how we can embody and focus the energy potential of this month's Jupiter-Saturn conjunction at 0 Aquarius 29, and other transits of 2021.
We presently find ourselves straddling the threshold between "acts," as it were, between the Piscean and the Aquarian Ages. Like vast tectonic plates shifting deep within the collective unconscious, this epochal transition has already begun manifesting as a series of seismic changes throughout our world, as the forms of an older order make way for those of a radically new one.
Aspects in astrology are particular arcs between the zodiacal positions of two planets. A cycle of planetary relationship begins when a pair of planets occupy the same degree of the zodiac. This originating aspect is known as the conjunction. Its arc value is zero. The New Moon is the archetypal conjunction. In time, the faster moving planet rushes ahead of the other in the sky. The arc measuring the cyclic distance between the two grows.
